Publish your first event

From a new organization to a live, payable event page.

8 minute read

You need three things before an event can take money: an organization, a payment key from your Cloud 9 Payments rep, and at least one ticket type. This walkthrough covers all three.

Create your organization

  1. Go to the organizer sign-in page and enter your work email. We send a sign-in link, so there is no password to keep track of.
  2. Name your organization and pick its web address. The address becomes part of every event link, so use the short name people already know you by.
  3. Open Settings and paste the payment key your Cloud 9 Payments rep sent you. The key is stored encrypted and is never shown again after you save it.

Until the payment key is saved, your event pages will load but checkout will refuse to charge. That is deliberate, not a bug.

Build the event

  1. Create the event with its title, date, time zone, and venue. Leave it in draft while you work.
  2. Add a ticket type for each thing someone can buy: individual golfer, foursome, dinner only, hole sponsor. Each gets its own price and seat cap.
  3. Give early-bird tiers a sales end date. The tier closes itself at that moment and the next tier takes over. Nobody has to remember to flip a switch.
  4. Add custom questions for anything you need from each registrant, such as meal choice or handicap.
  5. Publish. The page is live at your organization address plus the event address.

Test it before you announce it

Buy one ticket yourself on the live page, confirm the email arrives with a QR code attached, then refund your own order from the order list. The refund releases the seat back to inventory.
